  • Have you ever used glass beads for media blasting? I was just wondering if it would work better or not.

  • @DdgeluvinHic Glass beads produce a very nice satin appearance but aren't always the best choice. You want to score the surface a good bit for rust bluing or parking.

  • Have you thought about using durafil for the pitting?

  • I haven't experimented with any of that yet. I had used a bead of weld to fill in deep pits before to decent effect. I has to be a very deep pit though.

  • What PSI are you blasting at? 90 - 100 or could you do something like 60-70 psi for general surface prep? Do you find that regular sand works just as good as 120 grit AO? I may try using one of those portable abrasive blasters from Harbor Freight.

  • Generaly surface prep could do well at around 80 PSI, but I run ,mine at 100-120 with good results.

The AO is far better for metal prep in firearms. Be sure to get all of it off after you are done though. The stuff will creep into the smallest placees, and you must completely disassemble all parts before using AO.

  • I have heard nothing but negative comments about blasting with play sand.

  • Dude, gotta say you are awesome for tutorial vids man. All your projects are done with outstanding quality. Keep it up

  • @ESGCmfr87 depends on how many colors and if you are going to use a premade pattern from lauer. The quick kit is 29.95 for one color with everything you need. Any other stuff, like blasting, will cost you for the compressor setup and the media. It's pretty simple stuff, just follow the directions and the videos that people post. Get creative with painters tape if you want to do a pattern.

  • put a vent on oppsite side of vac so it clears it faster

  • if it wasent so bad you could probly use navel jelly to

  • does the media just gtet recycled or do you have to refill it each time?

  • How much would it cost to duracoat a mosin nagant sporter

  • do you have to sand blast even if the metal isnt rusted
