Demo of the 'Mega Jump' or 'Rocket Bounce' bug in the 1990 DOS game Stunts (aka 4D Sports Driving).

The bug happens when landing the car on an angled piece of track. It seems to happen most often when the landing point is right near the end of a given track piece, and very often when crashing, although neither of these is always true, as this demo shows.

Either way, the end result is your car rockets vertically into the stratosphere at huge speed. Gradually, the speed scrubs and finally you drop back to earth again, usually to a fiery demise. In this case however, the Jaguar lands nicely on the track and continues on as if nothing particularly special just happened. Well, in Stunts, stuff like this happens all the time. Meh!

Game: Broderbund Stunts 1.1
Car: Jaguar XJR9
Track: 'Ring' by GT3x24x7

  • How can i load tracks from other dictionaries?

  • @GermanyHipHopTV Hi, to load tracks from other directories, you can type the path in the top section of the Load Track box and press enter to see the tracks in that directory. The path must be short however - the game only allows 18 characters. I think it's best to put your tracks directories inside the main Stunts directory - this way you only need to type the directory name itself (eg MYTRACKS) instead of the full path (eg C:\STUNTS\MYTRACKS).

  • God I loved this game. Made wicked tracks for hours. Then try them with different cars. Shame noones made a new version of it. Would be great.

  • @sugkukenminhore actually there have been a few attempts at remakes, with various levels of success. Google 'ultimate stunts' or 'stuntcarracer sourceforge' for a couple of decent ones. =)

  • It's in old FPS games where if you jump and land on a surface higher then you (i.e. a ramp) and hit jump right as you land, you jump like 3 times as high as you normally would :P

  • Ah, ok! Well thanks.. this time for real.. :D

  • Man! I loved to make tracks back in the day on STUNTS. Thumbs up if you had this game on a 3 1/2 Floppy Disk! :D (I even remember that I had to use an antique pkunzip DOS program to extract the compressed file...everything in DOS! Before Windows 3.1, man!)

  • best bug ever

  • There's a video called NASA's canceled spacecrafts and rockets in the suggested videos. Now this car must be a forgotten one of them! XD

  • I used to love that bug. would hunt it down for hours :)
