This is a lesser known song of Taylor's that has found an audience with younger singers at the high school and college level because of arrangements of this song for chorus that are doable. One of the realities of life is, that even with one's belief in a creator, supreme being, or "God," we are going to go through occasional trials and tribulations in this lifetime by ourselves. I think the song inspires perseverance and courage to keep on going even when things get rough. It's a reminder too that we all have different challenges and react differently to the varied situations life presents us with. No two people react the same. While friends, loved-ones and family may be there (or not) to help us through, ultimately it's up to us. There is no greater example than when each of us must prepare to meet our maker (as they say). This is dedicated to the Topeka West Singers who fondly remember this song. It was a pleasure working with you.
The 1 dislike was from Carly Simon

This song (and this exact version of it, as a matter of fact,) used to bring me great comfort as a child. Some things never change.

@MeredithOD Yes, I think that's an insightful thought. It is indeed an encouragement, a mantra to carry with us throughout life. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
