Balancing Bar Trick

This video is of a trick that has been passed on through the generations. Who would have thought that a fork/spoon combination could balance on a toothpick on a glass, with one end of the toothpick burned off?

Ok, blazin, i like how you call on science and such... but really chemistry has no place here..., you can break off the entire match end and it'll work

2nd - mass does change significantly if you burn it

3rd - The real reason why this works is because of the way the spoon and fork are set up, most of their weight is in the handles, when you put them together like it has been demonstrated... the whole system is balanced b/c the center of mass of the spoon+fork, is INSIDE the glass,

I use a dime and two forks. no burning, but it's right at the very edge, too. I did it to demo cantilever bridges in front of my class when I was eight - I still do it once in a while for laughs.
