This video is made purely for entertainment, and is far from perfect, cuz anyway, very little effort was put into it =X.
In this video, we look at how the Index of Refraction (IOR) affects the caustics produced by a transparent object. Caustics refer to the colorful patterns of light you get when you shine a light through a transparent object such as glass.
Modelled in Blender
Rendered in Yafray
Soundtrack produced with LMMS
Graphics made with GIMP
Video Cut using Flash
Thanks for your comment!
Unfortunately my answer won't be helpful to you. I actually rendered everything, imported the frames to Adobe Flash, and then manually set a text box over the frames in Flash.
So unfortunately no, I wasn't using a script or anything like that.
If you need help I'd advise you to ask around the blender communities, I'm sure someone can help you.

Stupid question, so forgive me:
The numbers in the text box raising in value like that, did you render them using a script or was that post? Do you mind directing me to a tutorial or guide, I need to do something very similar and I've been racking my brain trying to get Python to do something like that.
Thanks much!

That was a great way to show off the affect IOR has on the caustic effect. Thanks for posting this! I hope I got the affect/effect right :p
