Video of Michael Ruppert speaking in Vermont on the topic of coming to terms with Peak Oil when it truly begins to impact our way of life. His presentation begins around the six minute mark.

during the credits at the end it states "Creative Commons". This being the case, I've simply uploaded this, unedited and unaltered, so that it might reach a larger audience. All credit due to Channel 17 in Vermont.

  • Don't ELECTRIC CARS like the Nissan Leaf help to alleviate the threat of peak oil, by shifting demand for energy away from oil and towards coal, natural gas, uranium, etc.

Doesn't that buy us a lot more time? What do you guys think?

How much of a diference do electric cars make against peak oil???

  • @thearmin

not much difference in my opinion. There are 8 gallons of petrol used in the production of each tire. Modern industrial processes are IMPOSSIBLE without cheap and abundant petrol.

    facts of life.

  • michael ruppert's a crackpot.

  • @agents1986

I'll bite. What makes Michael Ruppert a "crackpot"?

I understand that "peak oil" is not the same as running out. It will make gasoline exponentially more expensive, so much so that the food that most Americans rely on being delivered to them from distant locales, either in the US or not, will simply not be available any longer.

Are you honestly of the belief that the slump in deliveries of food to markets created by too costly or unavailable oil can be offset by bicycles?

you clearly don't understand the enormity of this problem

  • @KrunchyJD It's not simply a matter of US consumption of oil. There is a big world outside of USA hungry for oil. The top 10 emerging market oil explorers, producers & refiners are taking an ever increasing share of world daily oil production away from Western nations. Peak oil is why US military is making its move to take control of ME oil fields.

  • Ruppert wasn't right on his Dow predicition of 4,000 at the end of 2010.

  • @ThoughtControl it's not just about the 8 gallons in every tire. you can't even transport your raw materials to your factories !

  • @agents1986 I want you to say that in 10 years... hummm or you can say it now...

  • @ThoughtControl I suppose his comment could be called "unconstructive criticism".

  • You can find innovations that will delay the collapse, such as electric cars and alternative energies, but just as quickly, we will find ways to use more fossil fuels to do more things. Capitalism as a whole cares not what resources it wastes so long as they are cheap. Regardless of when it happens, it will happen, and no amount of delay will fix a problem of this magnitude without a great deal of pain.

  • Electricity is produce mostly by coal fire plants or natural gas. If coal and natural are also peaking. Expect rolling blackout due to all these fuels are transported by diesel trains and trucks! Once the oil shortages start, rolling blackouts will be norm! Forget electricity, it simply fossil fuels! Water dams, and nuclear, wind, and solar is less than 10%

  • What is ironic is that all of the coal and oil seams in the earth are proof of a worldwide flood and the results of billions of plants, trees, human and animal life being compacted together. We are still experiencing the judgment of the antediluvian world. Should have listened to Noah.
