It should be pointed out that the Alternative Vote does not fall into the category of Proportional Representation that produces coalitions etc. in Belgium and many other countries. In 2010, AV most probably would have given a coalition too, but when FPTP has produced majorities, all the studies suggest AV would have too (sometimes with even stronger majorities).
