Drink Bottled Water or Tap Water? Alkaline Water Made from an Ionizer Part 1

Just when you thought it was safe to drink water...duna, duna...no it's not Jaws, it's just good old bottled water. Why do you drink bottled water? According to the Washington Post, if you are like most Americans you drink it because you feel it is safer and healthier than tap water.

But hold on just a minute. Did you know that in a recent study conducted by a non-profit organization called the Environmental Working Group only two out of 188 bottled water companies surveyed provided any information about the water's source and treatment? How can this be? Well for one neither is Alkaline Water made from an Ionizer, but I digress...

Tap water is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and so too is bottled water, right? Wrong! Bottled water, which is considered a food, is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Because of this fact, the companies that bottle the water are not requires by law to disclose their source or what treatment was done to the water like tap water has to do. Additionally, tap water sources, like a municipal source, must disclose within 24 hours to its customers any potentially hazardous conditions that the water may have been exposed to, bottled water does not.

It is these facts along with the study conducted by the Environmental Working Group and another study done by the Government Accountability Office that had members of Congress dropping their jaws and opening their eyes to the very real dangers of bottled water. So concerned is congress that the members sent out letters to 13 of the biggest water bottling plants to seek more information.
