Our LumiQuest UltraBounce most closely relates to a Sto-Fen. They are roughly the same size and are actually light distribution devices rather than softboxes. They are useful when there are nearby walls or ceilings...or to spread the light out more when used inside of a large softbox or umbrella. Because neither of them is materially larger than the flash, they do virtually nothing in the absence of those (larger) nearby bounce/diffusion surfaces. The MiniSoftbox operates without ceilings.

I'm currently using a Sto-Fen diffuser that goes directly over my flash head. I would like to know how much different the LumiQuest mini softbox is to my Sto-Fen diffuser. I am a photojournalist and I need a diffuser that is compact.

@JibJibran I made an unboxing video of it, it's on my channel. So far I haven't really been able to put it to good use, but I'm going to take a bunch of photos with it this weekend actually so I will have a more solid impression of the product once I've done that. The few photos I have taken with it mounted on my flash definitely has softer highlights and shadows than without it.

@rzr82 Have you tried the softbox yet? It would be nice if you could make a video and post results. How did you like it though?

I just ordered the regular Lumiquest Softbox from a national webshop. Looking forward to see the results I can get with it.
Actually, the softboxes have no idea if they are shooting a portrait or macro. If you are seeking softer shadows, go with the largest one you will actually keep with you. Given the same light source to subject distance, the larger the light source the softer the shadows.
