Am I right in thinking that you can open an account with questreade if you live in the UK? Does the pattern day trading rule affect questrade? is the $4.95 per roundtrip or per side? Cheers.

Yes you can. You just have to provide proper identification documents. The pattern day trading rule does not affect Questrade and it's $4.95 for each side.

If you are a UK citizen thinking about openning an account with Questrade, then DON'T and FORGET IT!. Not only their customer service is the poorest, the process of openning an account was a nightmare!! you MUSR get your passport verified by a lawyer! You can't have it done elsewhere. This extra burden is totally unnecessary! For the sake of future happy trading, you don't have to put up with this crap, go elsewhere.

(cont)They ask him for a cheque from a canadian bank in canadian currency (he has no canadian bank account). then they ask for his passport to be certified by a canadian lawyer. He has no access to canadian lawyers. They keep going round in circles. I cannot afford the potential hassle. Can you shed any light on these issues for me?

Thanks for answering my questions, although someone I know through a trading forum is having a nightmare opening his account and is from the UK and it is putting me off going with questrade. His account was approved. He sent funds. Then they revoked the approval.
