In this video i show how to extract Potassium Chloride from lite salt, this is done by dissolving 35.9 grams of Lite salt in 100 mls of water, only 28.1 grams of Potassium Chloride is soluble in the 100 mls at 0 degrees C, Sodium chloride should stay fully disolved while the Potassium chloride precipitates out, after cooling, decant or filter off the Potassium chloride which has came out of solution, dry the KCl and repeat teh process, Recrystilisation of the KCl is recomended incase any NaCl contaminations.

Hope you could understand me talking... took over 2 hours to get a good take of the talking with minimal stuttering.

Ive joined up with AdSence so there will be add on my video, so if you dont mind, you can click on the once in a while, the money will be going to lab equipment, chemicals and other things that will help improve my videos :)

  • Why do you do these simple experiments, non of the chemical reactions on this channel are that complex nor offer anything really useful. Are you a highschool or university chemistry student? If you really want to make serious videos you may want to invest in proper chemistry equiptment and do more complex reactions while explaining how the reactions occur on an intricate other then tipping 2 chemicals together and looking at a pretty reaction which is pointless.

  • @AB0MINATOR Im not a highschooll student or a uni student... alot of the chemicals i make are some what useful for fireworks... i am thinking of buying some equipment... but im not that good at organic chemistry, only inorganic chemistry

  • why didn't you said that you had joined young scientists

  • @thegodofchemistry forgot, i was editing at 2am in the morning

  • good video is it you that talk or is it another guy and finally you got some real beakers

  • @thegodofchemistry nah its me, this is still teh beaker from b4.... ill most probly tell everyone that i got glassware when ever that is

  • Good job, but bad audio. Excellent basic experiments with homemade stuff. That is all that us underprivledged science fans have to work with. A most excellent way to get started in a rewarding hobby with little or no investment.

  • THIS SHIT IS USEFUL! IT CAN CURE THE DEADLIEST DESEASE ON THE PLANET :

THE CARDIOVASCULAR DESEASE. IT CAN DO SO BY LOWERING BLOOD PRESSURE.

THE KEY INGREDIENTS ARE THE POTASSIUM IONS. THE SODIUM IS ELIMINATED WICH IS ALSO KEY TO TREAT HYPERTENSION.

  • Are you sure that the white stuff precipitated was KCl ??

Well, Lite salt often contain other insoluble white chemicals, which precipitates.

Mine salt contains Dextrose Anhydrous. You should do a flame test with the precipitate, to test for presence of Potassium.

  • Can you speak slower, more clearly, and more loudly.

    Or, continue with musics.

Whatever you choose, good for me!

  • @99Chemicals Yeah i tried to look for the Nosalt but all i could find is lite salt.

yeah thats fine :) yoou cant monetize videos which have music from itunes, so i wanted to narrate a video so it would have no copy write

  • @ThePhDChemist Only uploaded this video becasue i got new editing software and wanted to try it out on a video, i recorded this about 6 months ago but never done anything with it.... im working on a better video, just wating to buy some HCl
