Little did I know, when I saw this when it was first released at the Century Theaters, what a classic this would be. I was a kid then, an old fart now, and it still wears well.

Taxi Driver is a great movie. The main character is a nobody. The story becomes about what he sees: the gritty honest shadow of the human soul and the underbelly of New York. Everything from the common people at the diner to the decision making politician. It's a very cool way of telling a story.

It takes some guts to bandage up the lead actors face for the majority of the movie. And it works. Much repspect.

im sorry but this trailer just reveals tooooooooooooooooooooooo much. and yes 70's was the best decade in films: Godfather, Godfather part II, Chinatown, Star Wars, Apocalypse Now, Dog Day Afternoon, Network, Deer Hunter, Annie Hall, Jaws, Close Encounters, TAXI DRIVER, Clockwork Orange...etc.....
