This clip shows how to access, modify, and save CATIA geometry in SimXpert with the geometry remaining in its native format. This means that changes made to the geometry model in SimXpert are made to the CATIA file and are available to others without importing the analysis model.

  • I thought that SimExpert was a FE environment. What's the purpose of having the capabilit of changing the Catia V5 parts and saving them? You can just as well do this in the Catia V5 (you've said that you need the license for Catia V5 anyway).

  • By allowing Analyst in SimXpert's FE environment to make changes to the CAD model and save it in its native format, it eliminates the need for the Analyst to return to CATIA to incorporate design changes after performing a simulation. This way any changes made to the CAD geometry by the Analyst in the process pf performing a Nastran Structural analysis are saved in the original CAD file, not only in the analysis files.
