Roman Kekhman is one of the world's best clarinetists. I work together with him from 1991.

His performances, both with the orchestra and as a soloist, always contributed to advance the image of Israel as the country with the enviable "gold stock" of outstanding musicians. His professionalism is great. On the scene he looks absolutely flawless. He possesses a unique charisma and a great positive energy. http://www.music-trio.com/musician.asp?id=1
Roman Kekhman performs various styles of music: world music (Jewish folklore - kleizmer), classical and baroque music. His repertoire comprises the best of the contemporary Israeli music.
Roman Kekhman at his concerts reveals new possibilities of his favorite musical instruments. He plays all kinds of clarinet: Bass clarinet, clarinet in B, in C and in Eb. Also he plays saxophones tenor and alto. He arranges himself various musical compositions. His arrangements for the Bass - clarinet of the cello and alto sonatas by Vivaldi and Marcello and of flute sonatas by Purcell for the clarinet C were played with great success.
He is a unique musician, since, being a born Klezmer, he also got a classical musical education of high quality. It is unfeasible to teach someone to be a real klezmer. One can master some klezmer technique, but hardly can catch the spirit of this inimitable music. Normally a musician can be either of a classical, or of folk type. Only a few musicians in the whole world combine the inborn klezmer style with the first-rate musical schooling, and one of them is Roman Kekhman.
Roman Kekhman lives in Jerusalem ( Israel) and works as a soloist of LAMA LO! ensemble and a member of Musical Trio from Jerusalem and Kochavey Yerushalaim ensembles. He is a winner of the numerous international music festivals and competitions. As a soloist of LAMA LO! he is a winner of the special UNESCO prize "For interactive dialogue through music" (4th International Music Festival, Samarkand, 2003) and the Golden Hanukkiyah Prize Winner (Berlin, 2003). He also won the First Prize at Jewish Music International Competition (Tel Aviv, Israel, 2002).
Roman was a great success playing the different programs during his tours abroad, in Tokyo, Bangkok, Shanghai, Hong-Kong, New York, Washington, Charleston, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samarkand, Belgrade, Zagreb, Split, Izmir, Alma-Ata, Bishkek, Minsk, Baku, Sanok, Przemysl, Berlin, Dortmund, Bremen, Roma. Roman is regularly invited to perform at various significant events organized in Knesset, President's Residence, and some other governmental institutions.
From press:
Kekhman gives himself completely, he totally gives himself up to the music. Every performance is the most important one for him. His playing is virtuosic - the sounds of his clarinet flow straight from the heart" Haaretz
"Id like to note the captivating artistry, plasticity, vivid emotionality of the ensemble soloist Roman Kekhman, the organic use of the Klezmer music technique combined with fascinating mastery of the clarinet Yosef Ben-Yisrael
Roman Kechman is undoubtedly a prominent musician in the kleizmer genre. His brilliant proficiency of the sound palette of such diverse instrument as clarinet in all its interpretations, artistry in every nuance, however insignificant it may seem, irrepressible energy of impact, alongside the extremely delicate taste, exert an unforgettable impression on the audience Globus

  • I like it. It's the particular tune he's playing that i like, not so much the horn itself. It's what one does with it. It sounds mellow and romantic. Had it been a different tune, i would not have liked it at all.

  • Thank you!

  • Very Beautiful

  • Thank you!
