This is a song about sexual harassment.
A lot of people think it's a compliment to hear men yell or honk or at you from a car every single day while you walk down the street.
Or sometimes they think that maybe we're making too big of a deal about it. Because there are people with bigger problems.
As though turning women into entertainment and objects doesn't play into a bigger picture.
Whistle
By Lauren Ligocki
Do you see a metal cage when you pass me
Whistle to make the bird fly around
Or sing for you
When I'm startled at the noise
There's a pretty bird for show
In a cage hung from the ceiling
There's a golden creature
In the water with invisible walls
And there's us, trying to get home
Do you see a glass bowl when you pass me
Tap tap to make the fish swim
Shall I do a flip for you
When I turn fast into your glare
There's a pretty bird for show
In a cage hung from the ceiling
There's a golden creature
In the water with invisible walls
And there's us, trying to get home
I never asked you to follow me home
I don't need a ride, I never met you before
Please don't bark, I'm not a dog
Please don't honk, I'm not in your way
Please don't growl, I don't want a fight
Please don't say those thing to me
This isn't for you
Please don't stare after you pass, I'm just trying to get home
There's a pretty bird for show
In a cage hung from the ceiling
There's a golden creature
In the water with invisible walls
And there's us, trying to get home
Do you see a metal cage when you pass me
Whistle to make the bird fly around

Beautiful Lauren and very well said. You have a wonderful voice and spirit. Maybe you could cover a song of mine titled "When all We Need is Love" - it's voices like yours that can really spread this simple message. Thank you for the friend invite and wishing you a very lovely day. Mark
