Super Smash T.V.-- another great 2-player, although it hasn't aged well since 1999 has it? :P. I remember spending many a day with my cousin playing this, which means of course this music was burned into my brain. The beginning crowd noises are lifted straight from the opening crowd noises from George Carlin's Jammin' in New York, and the sound effects are from the sound test you can access in the game's menu.

Now, I know the sound effects don't match up to the video, but keep in mind I put those sound effects in there years before I ever thought I was going to put video to this, so the effects are just there to support the music. Don't think about that too much and enjoy. Don't use this recording without giving me credit. Speedrun footage done by JXQ.

*Update:* Um, wow. I just watched this to see how it transferred over to YouTube, and I have to say it sounds a lot different with the severe data compression that YouTube does to their videos. The heavy metal crunch that comes in between 00:53 and 00:54 seems to have lost a lot of its power in that compression, and the whole recording sounds a lot brighter, especially in the cymbals and snare. My other recordings sound slightly different after getting the YouTube treatment, but this one really got changed. Ugh.

  • Smash tv came out in 1990 not 99 =S...

  • @S67Snail Yes, I know, but the game is set in the "futuristic" 1999, so when I say it hasn't aged well since 1999, I mean that ever since 1999, 1999 is no longer the future.

  • Ahh remember when life was like this back in 1999? I'm glad I survived the total carnage.

  • @Tryzon Agreed. I used to play this game a lot back then.

  • @MDthornton83 I'm aware of these things, being a big fan of all the movies you just mentioned. I'd also call that phrase famous rather than infamous, since it's well-known for being good as opposed to bad, if you get my meaning. At any rate, I think we can all agree that Smash TV is all kinds of awesome.

  • @Tryzon It is believed that this game was inspired by the Running Man. And some quotes are definitely movie references. Like the infamous "I'd buy that for a dollar!" from the first Robocop film.

  • You should remix all the levels and release them on a CD.

Sadly...when I see the CD, I'd be obliged to say:

"I'd by that for a dollar!"

Which is probably a bit brutal for you...

  • nothing says "friendship" like getting someone to play this game with you for a night and finally winning.

100 continues later. at 1AM in the morning.

  • @Tryzon lol

  • @thefastesrcman Clearly we were seperated at birth.

  • @Tryzon EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING! ARNOLD ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • "Turtle chunks needed"
