This lesson (perfect for ALL styles, not just funk) will teach you several different scales, fills and runs. I will show you both the notes AND how to create your own fills and runs using your rhythmic vocabulary.

As a lifelong Professional Musician myself, I was ecstatic to finally find some very advanced stuff. Most I had to go thru 3/4 of what they presented before I got to some NEW stuff. I am NOT being arrogant, nor do I believe HE was! If you go to Germany, you'll get along a whole lot better if you already speak the language... so my advice to you is LEARN the language, and you will LOVE what he's got to offer.

Dailynewscenter you counldn't more incorrect or out of place with this comment. I find that Willie is one of the very few teachers on the net that actually teaches. Hell, some say puts too much info out there, which is also crazy. I like his teaching and I'm an absolute adult beginner.

im not a beginning piano player, however. ive never taken lessons. but...a beginning piano player should know the very basics like scales and chords. i never took lessons, and i understand most of what he is interpreting on the keyboard
...just forget the big words and focus on the piano

dailynewscenter is an ignorant and misguided fool.
Why may you ask? Well, apparently he has never heard of the terms beginner, intermediate, and advanced and somehow he wasn't able to put 2+2 together and realize that this isn't a lesson geared towards beginning piano players.

@dailynewscenter I think you are being a bit ignorant. Maybe his focus is on speaking to trained musicians. It is obvious that he is not speaking to a beginner. I don't see how he's arrogant. I think the stuff is pretty awesome! I've been playing the piano for 16 years and I am looking to break myself into a new genre of improvisation outside of my current genre. I like the sounds. Good stuff!

@dailynewscenter If you've been trained professionally to play piano and organ for over 30 years, why are you complaining? You should understand this then, correct? What kind of 5 year old, and/ or "your average person" is going to search Youtube to learn jazz runs on piano? Knowing and understanding the terms and "language" used in this video are a bare minimum one should know before diving into "jazz" at ALL.

this guy is an arrogant and horrible teacher. why may you ask?
he's speaking to and in a language that only trained musicians understand.
the average person and a 5 year old child wouldn't comprehend what he's saying and i've been playing piano and organ professionally for over 30 years.

@dailynewscenter I usually don't respond to comments on YouTube especially when people are making such incorrect statements. 1st, I appreciate your passion in your post, yet do you think that you -really- have a sense of my teaching after watching 5:46 of video? 2nd, this is a SAMPLE of a larger lesson...not the whole lesson. 3rd, I created an entire series called JazzKids for 5+.
