A collection of the wide variety of aircraft that pass through the US Army Kwajalein Atoll (USAKA) Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site (RTS). Includes footage of a C-130 Hercules, C-141 Starlifter, S-3B Viking, UH-1 Huey, F-18 Hornet, F-111, and DeHavilland Twin Otter (DHC-6).
too bad no video or film from the 60's. I lived on kwaj from 65 to 67. Then, we came and went on a World Airways DC-6C, and a Northwest DC-7C. We had C-124's C-47s and C-54s (DC-3 and DC-4). Once a C-141 came in. there was one real rush though...a U-2. There were all sorts of guards around it too. I have no idea why that U-2 was there.

When we arrived on Kwajalein 50 years ago during the summer of 1960, we flew in on the Flying Tiger airlines which was prop driven with the seats facing backwards. It did make for a long trip from Hawaii with a short stop on Johnson Island. I noticed that none of the aircraft in the video was a Flying Tiger. Much of the island still looks the same, especially the Richardson Theater but that was in the days before they added the additional land for housing and the new high school.

I used to live on Kwaj and can say the worst flight i ever had was a c-131 to Hickem Hawaii. My favorite flight was the c-141.
