Coming from an actual lesbian AND a fan, I know for sure that Katy isn't homophobic. Her best friend is gay, her stylist is gay, she has a gay fanbase including both gay men and lesbian/bisexual women. A lesbian fan was once considering suicide because of bullying, and Katy helped her out. Plus anyone whos homophobic wouldn't put 2 gay men kissing in their music video.

first of all, lindsay lohan could very well indeed be lesbian and katy perry with Ur So Gay is used to describe a metrosexual ex. I kissed a girl is just a fun song. Anyway, people need to chill and stop taking everything so seriously. ~words from a gaywad~

@DunklenHerzen Actually not really because like I said, Firework has 2 gay men kissing in it. Plus if they JUST look at her music and not her, then they're ignorant and they don't really have that right to say that because they don't know her. Ur so Gay was just to poke fun at an old boyfriend. People taker her sense of humor the wrong way.

It's funny because her music, her largest self-portrayal to the word, says otherwise. Not a lot of people might have known about her in the light that you had described. With that, they just know her song. Contradicts what she does, doesn't it?

lately ive been thinking a lot about how fucked up that song was (ur so gay). Theres no excusing it. Shes adding her influence to the extremely and already heavily used offensive homophobic habbit of using the word gay as a replacement for 'bad' or 'lame'. No one would be allowed to release a song called 'Ur so ginger' or 'Ur so black' or 'Ur so jewish' in the same context. Im quite disgusted that madonna championed it, radio stations played it and its even allowed to exist in the 1st place.

@Trevor10 Good point! That would certainly make more sense, if she loves the LGBT community so much; why not sing a nice song about them - oh wait - because it wouldn't make as much money!

She's not homophobic, she's just totally shallow. Using shock tactics to steer attention away from the fact she can't sing - also couldn't they find any lesbians? I think it might have been a little more informative to get the opinions of some gay girls too!

Not only is her best friend gay, but she has stated in the past that she has come to accept the GLBT community and sees them as completely equal human beings, despite what she may have learned through church and/or school when she was growing up. People who are accusing her of homophobia might want to get their facts straight.
