  • @naw1212 After awhile my 'Liquid Tin' gets crystals in the bottom of the container.

  • Dude, ferric chloride is potentially dangerous, it's corrosive and its vapors are irritating for the respiratory system. Shouldn't you wear gloves and protective mask and glasses?

  • I've been using an incandescent (automotive style) trouble light to heat the FeCl directly w/o a water bath. Just put a 100 or 120 watt bulb in there and hang it above the tray (or below) to heat it. Works slowly, but after about 10 minutes it's pretty hot. The lamp won't be capable of getting the acid to boiling/scalding temps so that's good from a safety point of view if you somehow forget it.
