Axel City is one of the largest Fighter Maker 2nd games I've ever downloaded (almost a gigabyte worth of COMPRESSED files, much larger uncompressed) and it's not the best Doujin fighting game out there, but I'll give the creators credit; I can see that a lot of time and effort went into making this game as original (as in, the game's own soundtrack, voiceovers, graphics, and less moves borrowed from other games) as possible, and that's rather commendable in and of itself.

After the nice opening intro, you have your typical limited selection of modes from FM2nd games. You pick one and get to choose from a nice sized roster of characters (though be warned in advance that several characters fight similar to one another but with subtle differences). The character models aren't very big per se, but they have some detail. I like the sketchy and gritty look of the characters and the stages aren't so shabby either. This game also has cool endings.

The game can currently be expanded due to a special project the creators of Axel City made which will import characters from another game into Axel City and increase the roster even more, though they look out-of-place as they are more detailed visually. It's up to players whether or not they want to import them.

One thing I don't like is how floaty the characters are, which makes them capable of being juggled from many instances. One juggle in particular is hilarious looking as the character bounces off of the ground and around the air in a ridiculous fashion. The AI also isn't exactly too bright, but creating good AI is never an easy task anyway. This video shows a few fights from the story mode. Enjoy.

  • Where can i find this game

  • I really like the gameplay of this game. Fast and frantic. The hit detection is weird though, attacks extend far beyond the animations at times. If they fixed that, I'd actually be willing to pay money for this game.

  • with some gameplay refinement this game could have been so godly

  • Clearly, this is a game about bodybuilders and Playboy models.

  • "Perss Key Start"

Also, some of the female characters are a BIT scantily-clothed, don't you think? XD

  • Nice gameplay although I would had liked to see some Lion Hard or Wolf Fang action. All the stars in the world, Peace

  • push botton to next

  • I love the old skool art style and character designs!

  • Cool character designs :]

  • Oh, and the fighter you chose reminds me of a female version of Ken from Street Fighter.
