  • This is an excellent introduction to Okinawan dance, very didactic and informative, thank you. I am of Okinawan ancestry, born and raised in Peru. :)

  • Does the doctor that delivered you, know that you are quoting him?

  • fuck, Ryukyuan culture had been raped by Japanese culture, It should be more close to ancient Chinese culture rather than Japanese culture. We chinese should help Ryukyuan people kick out Japanese from their islands, and recover their original culture.

  • Great video, Thank you

  • @caonimazazhongtoushu, ur obviously a TROLL!!! but anyway, Ryukyuans & Ainu are their own people. They have their own culture and should be proud of that. This is not Noh at all. The costumes are different and so is the dance, stage etc...

  • Pekin Opera outfit?

  • the poses are as dramatic as indian traditional dances!! so beautiful!!

  • This was very informative - great video and beautiful dancing. I love how the Ryukyuan kimono has these symmetrical shapes covering an all black material, like the dancers at 2:43. I'm not an expert by any means, but it seems quite distinctive. I've seen the shapes much larger on photographs of Ryukyuans.

  • Ha ha! Surprisingly I didn't. Then again I made sure I stayed away from the areas where they were known to hang out at. I did come across a lot of bats, though! Those things are like Okinawa's national bird or something!

  • You lived in Okinawa, you say? :D I've wanted to go there so badly. Their snakes always scared me, though. Did you come across any snakes over there?

  • that's what said him when i first saw him (the doctor).

come on the actors' faces were creepy
