elevators used to scare me, my mom started on that, saying some lunatic would snap the elevator cable. but i have to use one everyday so im not really scared of them anymore

I think since it's an old elevator, the door close button may have just broken over the years and they never bothered to fix it. It was then fixed when they modernized it. I highly doubt that the ORIGINAL panel would actually have buttons on it that the controller doesn't have inputs for.

Good video. I hate those door close buttons that don't work or don't respond right away! I live in a 22 storey high rise with 40 yr old unmodernized Otis elevators and they're great. The doors open and close quick and you only have to push a floor button and the doors close immediately. I should put video of them up, they're pretty cool.
