how to get involved
Richard Gere, Harrison Ford, Julia Roberts, Sting, Adam Yauch, Alanis Morissette and others speak out for Tibet.

Find out how You can get involved go to:

The struggles in Tibet are symbolic for every human rights struggle. Please, get involved. There is only a limited time left until there will longer be a Tibet to save.

Some startling facts:
The peaceful buddhist country of Tibet was invaded by Communists China in 1949. Since that time, over 1.2 million out of 6 Tibetans have been killed, over 6000 monastaries have been destroyed, and thousands of TIbetans have been imprisoned.

2. In Tibet today, there is no freedom of speech, religion, or press and arbitrary dissidents continue.

3. The Dalai Lama, Tibet's political and spiritual leader, fled to India in 1959. He now lives among over 100,000 other Tibetan refugees and their government in exile.

4. Forced abortion, sterilization of Tibetan women and the transfer of low income Chinese citizens threaten the survival of Tibet's unique culture. In some Tibetan provinces, Chinese settlers outnumber Tibetans 7 to 1.

5. Within China itself, massive human rights abuses continue. It is estimated that there up to twenty million Chinese citizens working in prison camps.

6. Most of the Tibetan plataeu lies above 14,000 feet. Tibet is the source of five of Asia's greatest rivers, which over 2 billion people depend upon. Since 1959, the Chinese government estimates that they have removed over $54 billion worth of timber. Over 80% of their forests have been destroyed, and large amoutns nuclear and toxic waste have been disposed of in Tibet.

7. Despite these facts and figures, the US government and US corporations continue to support China economically. This shows their blatant lack of respect for these critical issues of political and religious freedom and human rights.

  • go to studentsforafreetibet dot org - about tibet - facts vs. myths and see what they answer to Chinese bullshit about "happy average Tibetan, only monks are bad" and "people who protect Tibet have never been To Tibet" . LOL, I'd like to see what would say about that! You have not been to TIbet yourself, but facts speak to themselves!

  • By the legal viewpoint Tibet has not lost its independent- it is free country under illegal occupation. Death to sadistic Chinese bastards!

  • People in China are getting more awareness about democracy.... The Communist regime will be over soon in China, Both Tibetan and Chinese will be free soon!

  • I love how especially in America people will shout "Free Tibet!!" at the top of their lungs without realizing the irony in it. Maybe in China people should shout "Free the Native Americans!!" I don't support China's occupation of Tibet however at the same time I don't think we have any credibility to say things like that since we have occupied the U.S for almost 500 years now not to mention since we are occupying 2 other countries at the moment as well.

  • Free Iraq from USA

  • Free Hawaii

  • Anti-China propaganda.. Tibet is already free..

  • What I don't understand is that I hear so many voices calling out to help Tibetans gain their freedom from Chinese government, but I hear absolutely nothing from the same people calling to help the rest of China from the same government. To say the CCP specifically targets Tibetans and treats them badly is grossly inaccurate because they treat EVERYONE badly (remember Tiananmen Square?). If the Tibetans have a right to protest and beat ppl on streets, does that mean other Chinese do as well?

  • Fuckin' moron. Freedom my ass!

  • Hollywood's trash at its best!! Tibetans now enjoys the best freedom than they could ever dream of under the 'hell on earth' theocracy of the Dalai Lama. What a bunch of ignoramus movie suckers!!
