My late father's family nick name was Sonny and I have always loved this song. I am not ashamed of the sentiment - it is a beautifully constructed song (just like its stable mate - "Little Pal"). Written by Ray Henderson, Bud De Sylva, and Lew Brown Sonny Boy was sung by Al Jolson in the 1928 "talkie" The Singing Fool. Score copyright of Campbell, Connelly & Co Ltd, London

  • Superb, my friend. Broke my heart, to tell you the truth, and that's a tough one after hearing Jolson's version for 40 years now! Just wonderful, my friend! 5 stars! :)

  • @singingkid Thanks very much - you have great delivery yourself!

  • Hey T - beautifully done. Lovely playing

  • @StubyStubyDoo Thank Stu. The chord patterns are great on these old ones although this song did need a bit transposition to be playable by me! Checked out your own vids - you're coming along great yourself. Keep it up.

  • Beautifully done!

  • @MsKit1 Thanks very much!

  • Thanks for your kind words Rick. It is a brilliant song and I would really recommend the original which was beautifully delivered by Al Jolson - what a singer.

  • I enjoyed everything about this one.
