High Definition version of Samuel Purdey's 1996 single 'Lucky Radio' - from their 1999 album 'Musically Adrift'.

Samuel Purdey consists of songwriting partnership, Barney Hurley & Gavin Dodds. Their influences Include Steely Dan, Hall & Oates, The Doobie Brothers, Airplay, Tower Of Power, Oliver Nelson, Joni Mitchell, Earth Wind & Fire, Prefab Sprout, Chicago, Michael McDonald, Blood Sweat & Tears, Monkey House, Swing Out Sister, and many others!

At the time of this release Samuel Purdey were likened to bands such as Jamiroquai & The Brand New Heavies - but as far as we're concerned, Samuel Purdey had much more weight, both musically & lyrically.

Lucky Radio and the Musically Adrift album are available at iTunes, etc. Details and more info at:

  • How many people is there the person who was a member of JAMIROQUAI in this? And who is it? I wanna know it.

  • Before forming Samuel Purdey, Barney Hurley (Drums) had a brief spell touring with Acid Jazz old boys Jamiroquai and Mother Earth, as well as occasional session appearances with amongst others, Robbie Gordon of Gil Scott Heron fame. Gavin Dodds (Lead Vocals/Guitar) also had a life before Samuel Purdey recording and touring with Jamiroquai.

  • time is judging this album to be a classic! now it's on iTunes and cdbaby ya'll ...

  • Samuel Purdey are probably the best band to come out of the nineties, what a slick band! Steely running through it's veins, This tune can be stuck on in any decade...timeless...one of the great music crimes that they didn't whack

  • A neat, neat song - great musicianship and a killer guitar solo. I think Lucky Radio will live on to become quite a classic in years to come.

  • while searching 'Pages' and 'Steely Dan' this came up. SO GLAD IT DID! What a find! Amazing stuff.
