Web 2.0 tools, such as social computing, have leveled the playing ground enabling customers to interact with each other in extremely collaborative environments.

Jim Deters, Ascendant Technology:
"Well, I think the net of it is the world has changed. Things are different. Theres a lot of noise in the marketplace, and for anyone to compete — big guy versus little guy, little guy versus big guy — you have to engage and resonate with the consumers on their levels. Consumers are creating markets and theyre creating trends in these social computing, these collaborative, environments. And they have been unbelievably effective at filtering out the noise. And so if you cant engage them at that level, you cant play the game. And you cant win today."
