Our 1-year-old is intensely interested in doing what everyone else is doing. So, last night I sat him on the counter with me while making dinner. After watching for a few minutes, he grabbed a handful of swiss chard and started tearing it into the pan.

Involving children in household chores give them more quality time and they're learning at the same time.

  • @rethom Me too! I love when the kids help out :-)

  • I Love this!

  • @QueenBrittanyMichell Thanks for the tips - I have noticed some of my boys react negatively to praise and I always wondered why. :-)

  • Don't break their concentration just to praise. You were giving plenty of praise before asking for a "high five" by just being their sharing the space and being a positive influence. Other than that - Good job Mom. Just remember that the only time to break a child's concentration should have a goal and purpose to teach or guide.
