Alchemy is a lot more powerfull than putting gaz into a can. It works with the energies of the sun. Anyway, all of the wisdom contained in books as been burned! So we have to put gaz and say it's alchemy.

@TheHermeticAlchemist (cont.) is what makes it impossible to change lead into gold, as alchemists claim. Because both are different elements and thus, by definition, cannot be changed into one another (without a nuclear reactor, at least).

Also, alchemy and chemistry are fundamentally different. The 4 alchemical elements (air, fire, water, and air) can be broken down into smaller elements (water becomes hydrogen and oxygen); fire isn't even an element in itself. Today we recognize 114 elements.

@TheHermeticAlchemist Not nessicaily. You aren't changing the elements, because the elements are the kinds of atoms themselves. In a reaction, the atoms are rearranged, but they are not changed into different elements, because the modern-day definition of an element is "a substance that can't be changed into another by chemical means." So even though Iron and Oxygen react to form Iron Oxide (rust), the orriginal elements themselves aren't changing, they are still in the rust. This is what makes
