A war of words has broken out in government with Justice minister Mutula Kilonzo dismissing assertions by two presidential aspirants that they will campaign for the top seat irrespective of the ICC ruling over the post election violence. Kilonzo says pronouncements by Finance minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto that an ICC indictment would not halt their presidential ambitions was a statement of impunity. Jamilla Mohammed reports.
how can we expect them to stand by the law in which they claim defense around, yet they trample over it and ignore the icc...they have NO respect for the law, yet they as the leaders should have the most respect for it.!!We hold them to a much higher degree of responsible than normal kenyans thus they should not be involved(negatively) in such scandals.

@Mweusi1 The chares were confirmed against them, as a leader you actually have to "avoid " trouble....not stand by and let yourself be implicated. You cannot disgrace the office!!!.That means nothing in kenya it seems. Why are they acting like normal wananchi??Why should we continue to call them "Honourable" yet they do not behave that way.

There is no two ways about it. Impunity is Impunity.

I wholly disagree with Mutula on this one,the same Law clearly states they are innocent because they have not been proven guilty end of.

we need brave kenyans with clear minds like Kilonzo. People who can call a spade a spade..
If the cases against Ruto and his new found companion Mr. uhuru are confirmed then it will be criminal for the 2 to think that they will run for state house. We will of course not just sit and watch the 2 ignoring the ICC ruling. Kenya belongs to all kenyans but not to the 2

Here here Mr. Kilonzo it is indeed impunity at it's highest. There is a certain expectation of integrity required when seeking public office. Ruto and Uhuru do not fit the bill and no amount of premature chest-thumping will convince Kenyans otherwise. Those castigating Kilonzo have little regard for the law.
