About Ray C. Anderson
Ray Anderson is founder and chairman of Atlanta, GA-based Interface, Inc., the worlds largest manufacturer of modular carpet with sales in 110 countries and factories on four continents. An award-winning senior executive with over three decades of professional experience in the carpeting industry, Anderson is the author of Confessions of a Radical Industrialist: Profits, People, Purpose Doing Business by Respecting the Earth, published in September, 2009 by St. Martins Press. In his book, he chronicles the development and implementation of Interfaces highly-regarded Mission Zero initiative, the companys promise to eliminate any negative impact it has on the environment, by the year 2020, through the redesign of processes and products, the pioneering of new technologies, and the introduction of efforts to reduce or eliminate waste and harmful emissions while increasing the use of renewable materials and sources of energy.
This captain of industry has eschewed a luxury car for a Prius, built an off-the-grid home, and authored a 1998 book on his corporate epiphany, Mid-Course Correction. In the process, he became an unlikely screen hero in the 2004 Canadian documentary, The Corporation, and a subject of the 2007 Leonardo DiCaprio film, The 11th Hour. He has served as a master commentator on the Sundance Channel series, Big Ideas for a Small Planet, and he was named one of TIME Magazines Heroes of the Environment in 2007, with a similar honor from Elle Magazine that same year. A sought-after speaker and advisor on all environmental issues, Anderson was co-chair of the Presidents Council on Sustainable Development during President Clintons administration. In 2008, Anderson co-chaired the Presidential Climate Action Plan in 2008, a team that assisted President Obamas administration with the development of its first 100-day action plan on climate change issues.
The former chairman of the board of The Georgia Conservancy, Anderson currently serves on the boards of the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation; Rocky Mountain Institute; David Suzuki Foundation; Emory Universitys Board of Ethics Advisory Council; ASID Foundation; Worldwatch Institute; Arizona State University Global Institute of Sustainability Advisory Board; and Melaver, Inc. In addition, he sits on the advisory boards of the Harvard Medical School Center for Health and the Global Environment and the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper. He holds eight honorary doctorates from Northland College (public service), LaGrange College (business), North Carolina State University (humane letters), University of Southern Maine (humane letters), The University of the South (civil law), and Colby College (law), Kendall College (art), and Emory University (science).

@0545Kyle Think o fit this way Kyle. If you're right, no big deal...all we've done is clean up a bit. But if you're wrong, oh Lord, we are in serious trouble, and our children even moreso. I'm just not willing to take that chance.
