I welded a piece of 1" pipe about 2' long to a 3" wide. 1/4" thick piece of angle cut 21/2" long. Wiggle and tap the angle between the rim and bead then beat it right above the vertical flange like a useless brother-in-law. I use as big a hammer as I can swing. Get the angle against the rim before trying to get it to go down. Keep the angle tight to the rim to avoid damage to the tire/bead. Move around the rim until it drops down. Don't have someone else hammer! It's a 1 man operation.

Im feel lucky being that about 30 years ago the local gas station bought a new changer and my grandfather bought the old style manual changer from them for 30 bucks or so. it does take a little effort to use but i've used it for 30 years and saved alot of time and money with it. I've got it bolted to a wood cross tie and that buried in the ground.and there are times i have changed tires for myself and others that cant afford to have it done at a shop and happy to do it. Thanks for your tip.

haha this cracks me up because it reminds me of my own repair antics. A tip though. Use a lube that doesnt stay slippery, like dish detergent and water. This way the tire wont move around the rim when its back on the car.

I use an old school chevy jack and just lay the tire on the ground and put the jack on the tire and my bumper and jack it up until my truck slams down haha
That way looks like it would work equally well. The way I did it was a lot less effort though lol.

@origionaldz yeah it worked but it wasn't the easiest..............I usually use the hi lift jack now and it works good. I may buy a manual tire machine from Harbor Freight Tools.
