Nilsson was superb in this role, and her commercial recording with Corelli and Fischer-Dieskau is excellent. I saw her three times in this role; her Metropolitan Opera performance with Domingo in 1969 was unforgettable.

She's great, of course. She's just amazing but on the other hand, the dress, the position, even gestures and emotion is copied from whom? Don't you recognize Callas? And so on and on... sopranos are coping Callas even now.

I borrow Callas' words when I say that comparing two (and more) outstanding singers is like comparing "champagne" to "cognac"- one isn't better than the other, they just have a different taste and texture. That's what makes them all different and I love it :)

calas wasent "just anouther pretty voice" she was special, no one coud do what she did! the emotion, the expression, the musicality, the vocal acrobatics, no one coud/can match her.
