TV commercial for local hobby shop, circa 1990s.
Starring: Robert Platz, Lee Bentley
Written by: Lee Bentley, Steve Moore, Robert Platz
We bought a flight jacket at Banana Republic for, like, $300 for Robert to wear, with the idea that we'd take it back the next day. (We were bad boys.) I think he might have wound up keeping it, though...I remember he liked it a lot. I'm wearing a plastic helmet provided by Steve Moore and a Banana Republic bush jacket that I already owned.
The original script had the voice-over: "Having a little fun killing your friends." The store owner didn't like this, so he asked us to tone it down after the spot was complete. That's why you hear my (obviously dubbed - I was mad about this and didn't really do a good editing job) line "...have a little fun defeating your enemies." I remember getting a nice "k" sound at the end of the word "killing".
There was a second spot dealing with R/C cars that I remember being not nearly as fun.
We never did get to actually control R/C airplanes, by the way. They were 'way expensive and anyway I was pretty sure I'd just instantly drive the thing into my own face.
It was in South Houston, just off of Edgebrook, as I recall.
