The following is an outtake from Joe Berlinger's movie Crude. On March 29, 2007, plaintiffs' counsel Pablo Fajardo, Alejandro Ponce Villacis and Julio Prieto (along with Luis Yanza, Amazon Defense Front) meet with Alexis Mera, Ecuador's Secretary of Judicial Affairs. Mera suggests they "help each other" and then urges plaintiffs to incite protesters to "close down Republic Street" to pressure the public prosecutor to denounce the 1998 release as a "fraud" because, he says, "That's how this country works."
