Quest vWorkspace IE6 Compatibility Edition - URL Redirection from IE8/IE9 to IE6

This video demonstrates how vWorkspace can be used to seamlessly present IE6 on a Windows 7 Desktop. It also shows the bi-directional URL redirection from the Win7 IE8 browser, to IE6 hosted on a 2003 R2 Terminal Server, then back to IE8 on Windows 7. Unlike application virtualization of IE, this is 100% legal, compliant and supported and formally endorsed by Microsoft and Quest.

The whole idea is that when migrating to Windows 7, companies should not be stalled for a long time trying to figure out what to do with web apps they've created or use, that require IE6. If the apps are mission critical, don't stall your Windows 7 migration to port them to IE8 or IE9. Continue with your Windows 7 migration, use vWorkspace to deliver the IE6 applications to Windows 7 and deal with remediating the apps in a separate project and timeline, so you don't postpone your Win7 migration.

The vWorkspace connector can be deployed via GPO or SCCM (or manually). The settings that control which sites are redirected from IE8 or IE9 (on your client device) to IE6 (hosted on 2003 R2 Terminal Servers running vWorkspace) are defined via GPO, Config.xml or registry entries. In a nutshell, this can all be deployed in a zero touch manner, without visiting a single desktop.

In this video my client device is at my home office in Michigan and the vWorkspace infrastructure is in building 25 on the Microsoft Campus in Redmond, WA. The connection has between 80 and 110ms of latency.
