Actually, I was the color guard commander, and I wore that cover for a reason. it was pre-performance and I was the Color Guard CC. The cover was fine for that. and I'm pretty sure you can wear the service cover when not in Class A. I've seen it done many times, and nobody seems to mind. plus, the air force (who we are modeled after) wears it like that plenty of times.
It won't matter to someone who doesn't know CAP uniforms, but I have to gripe about the SNCO wearing an officer service cap in short sleeve blues at 1:11. Wrong rank, wrong uniform....
note, it says in the 39-1 that the service cap can be worn with any blues uniform. just throwing that out there.
