This tutorial is incompetent and belongs to NI tutorial DVD. The entire DVD tutorial on Battery 3 skips right pass the main question as to how to create the complex loops that is constantly demonstrated through out the tutorial. It goes from loading Battery 3 kits or your custom kit and jumps 500 yards to playing a loop which leaves the viewer lacking as to know how to make a drum loop. If there is a step sequencer or a midi editor needed to make a simple loop then stick to FL Studio.

@cast390 Different DAWs fit different people depending on their backgrounds and experience. Personally, Cubase makes a lot more sense to me than Ableton does but that might be because of my composition and studio background. I fully acknowledge that Ableton does a lot of amazing things and has a unique and innovative workflow that clearly works brilliantly for the modern electronic musician. I would love to try rewiring Ableton into Cubase, that seems like a great way to work.

@JRRShop I've attempted this with similar free VSTs and it has yet to work. 2 of the 8 pads register and they aren't even the right pads. I don't wanna buy battery if this isn't gonna work. Does anybody have any info on how to assign the pads to the right notes to get them to play each pad?

I've been searching for hours, and i've been telling to myself that i can't be the ONLY one that doesn't know HOW to open the program. So, there's battery 3 installed on my PC and there's Fruity Loops 10. If i understood right, you must open battery IN fruity loops so you can actually create loops. Can anyone tell me HOW do i do that ? All i can do is open battery 3 alone, and click on different sounds...yay :|
may i use this if i don´t have a MIDI KEYBORD ? my interface has MIDI and i have CUBASE

I just got an akai MPK mini, it has 8 pads on it so can I use battery or any other vst like this with my midi keyboard/pads to record?
iDylDubstep 3 months ago
@iDylDubstep It should work, you may need to assign the pads to different note numbers but Akai's software is usually very good and allows you to do things like that.

Hi, I've some question to ask you and i thak you in advance for the answers :)
1) how can i use the sidechain with a sample in a cell in battery 3 on ableton live 8?? (More simple: kick in a cell of battery 3, a bass in another midi track and the sidechain in to an audio track)
2) in battery the only way to create a melody with a sample is by pitching it??
3) what does means st 3/4 - st 5/6 ?? stereo 3/4, ecc?? if so there are limited numbers of channel to create external automations...no??

@DeeRougeJay 1. Battery allows you to assign each cell to its own output. You'll then be able to sidechain the individual sounds in Ableton.
2. You can also assign a modulation to pitch.
3. Those are stereo outputs, where as 17 in a mono output.
