Army of Stones: Kosovo barricades Serbs' only weapon

Serbs in Northern Kosovo say they'll take defensive action against any NATO attempts to clear their roadblocks near the border with Serbia. Tuesday is the deadline for them to go - otherwise, NATO peacekeepers have threatened to force them out. The barricades were built after Kosovo took control of two border crossings, assisted by NATO and the EU. Maria Finoshina reports from Kosovo-Serbian border.

Russia is not serbias orthodox mother just because they are slavs. We must stay strong together. ALL SLAVS no matter what religion you have. Even the albanians. @srdjankovic Lets say we do send troops down there, that would create tension with the Americans, and you know you can expect anything from their marines, killing to them is as easy as saying hello. Our people suffered enough in every war, the last thing we need is more dead people or NATO bombings .Russia wouldnt get involved anyway. You're right about the EU. Its just that some people think it will be so much better for us if we join them. The EU will fall apart soon anyway.

Serbia doesn't need a strong army. Serbia could build roads into Northern Kosovo, they could patrol the border, they could send trucks into the Serb people of Northern Kosovo. They could employee security guards to defend the Serb people.

I would advise staying OUT of the EU. Most British wish to leave the EU. Its not a democracy, its a dictatorship!! Keep away from it, you see what is happening in Greece, when things went bad they EU (Germany & France) just kick them out.

@51wins The people want to help, the government doesnt. When the UN soldiers started shooting the protester down there, the president did nothing. We are between the West and the East, in another words our EU membership, which our government wants, would cost us Kosovo and strong friendship with Russia. Most of the Serbians would rather not go to EU, because all of the things they did to us in the past. We have weak military, what are we against NATO? Government never seems to care about people.

Correction some Western Governments and NATO is against them...the Western people have no idea that their troops are even based in Kosovo. I am British and I can assure you Kosovo never makes news headlines unless something really big happens there. The last time it made mayor headlines was when Kosovo declared Independence.

Its time Serbia stood up and defended their own people in Northern Kosovo!! Why aren't they doing more to help?

Russia are unlikely to risk their reputation.
