On the 9.5.2010 Qantas 747-400ER VH-OEH was kind enough to come to Perth. This is pretty much a non-event at Perth now after Qantas ceased scheduled 747 services around a year ago (ish). Today VH-OEH operated QF581 from Sydney to Perth, returning to Sydney later in the afternoon as QF582.

Apologies for the shoddy camerawork, it was a very windy day (15 knott winds) and it was the first time I'd filmed a 747 (goes to show how 'rare' they are!)

As it can be seen in the video, Perth Airports new 'Mega Fence' is well under construction and my 'mound' videos may not look as good from now on:(

  • Get used to seeing the 747's in Perth more often. They coming back 6x a week very soon. From what i understand to compete with virgin blue operating A330-200's to perth soon

  • @chrisklein21

they are indeedy. all a publicity stunt if you ask me

  • That was excellent! Such a shame about that new stupid fence though....why do they need a new one?!

  • @bombardierq400

    Cheers!

The new fence is being put up for god knows what reason.

you can see a good comparison between the new and teh old fences at 2:25, the silver one is the old and the black is the new.

  • Why was this here?

  • @FlightRiley

descriptions up now. I think something to do with aircraft avaliability in that the A332 that was meant to operate these services was out of servie? maybe?

  • the 747's have started daily (except Sat. i think) services to Perth as of 30th May 2011 arriving at 13:05 in Perth. VH-OJD came is this afternoon

  • Nice video!

Happy they come in daily now, again!

  • Looking very nice...

  • Hey mate you should come to Melbourne. We get a380s

  • @ansettaddict123 - Yep, it's a publicity stunt - after all, QF is the "me too!" airline.

The Perth 744 services will be with the geriatric 56J 356Y configured aircraft (no Y+). Nothing special to see there, folks.

  • @ansettaddict123 where is the spot you were at? thanks.
