Jermain Defoe's close-range volley after 22 minutes was enough to give England a 1-0 win over Slovenia in a nervy Group C finale in Port Elizabeth. The victory, coupled with a 1-0 win by the Americans over Algeria, gave England second place in Group C and sent Slovenia home early.
