Part 3 Oral History of World War II by Elmer H. Ake Huertgen Forest & Battle of the Bulge

In Part 3, while on reconnaissance, Pvt. Ake encounters a mysterious French mansion. He is then stationed at Arlon and Bastogne in Belgium and participates in two of the bloodiest battles of the war, the Battle of Huertgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge. Narrated by Elmer H. Ake. Pvt. Elmer H. Ake (1925 - 2007) served as a medic with Company B of the 417th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army during World War II. The recipient of two Purple Hearts, he composed a collection of poetry about his wartime experiences in Europe. His poems can be viewed at the Elmer H.
