Part 2 of a 2 part series, ride with engine 4 to a EMS call in the 700 block of Allen St. for a fall victim on a LANTA bus. EMS transported her to the hospital only after she walked off the bus and a half block down to her house to put her things away.

you never know when the extra tools that a fire truck (and their firefighters that know how to handle/use them, especially if the situation turns violent (Hazmat/fire related)) has to offer can come in handy. Also a lot of local firefighters have their EMT B cert. Some can get to a scene faster than an ambulance in, thus increasing the probability of patient survival. yes. im a firefighter/emt, so i know what im talking about, especially for towns like allentown.

  • I think that AFD should keep going on the ema calls they r doing now because they have been a big help to AEMS

  • I think every dispatcher thinks this at some point.... but...

Shut up and do the damn call.

    :)

  • @bully73944 You are Right Why a big ass Fire truck?

  • I would say ems or fire call just serve your community proper. AND THATS IT!!!

  • charlie-echo

  • Respond on charlie-echo

  • Whats next, having Lehigh County do the same.

  • I would say respond them on calls that obviously need more attention for example more of Charlie and echo responses. Its a waste of time sending AFD to assist EMS for someone with a headache for an example.
