A truly great guitar pop song from Flying Colors one and only album from 1987. There were a number of other great songs on the album too, my personal favourites being One Saturday and Bring Back the Rain. If I were asked who they were like I guess they might be compared favourably to say The Plimsouls or The Del Fuegos, but they were a very original band who wrote their own songs and had their own style. I still find it hard to understand why so few people seemed to notice these guys at the time.

  • What in this popping world was their song were they had the chorus "it doesn´t matter"? This music was around when had parties in the year of the 1988. And, in Finland. We just had a good sense of what "pop"music could be...

  • @mm63443 Hi there, The song you are referring to is in fact called "It Doesn't Matter",just one of the many great songs on their album.

  • I've not heard this for 20 years and it till sounds fresh! Great song and great band, the bass player was in The Zeros in 1976/77 and later The Wolverines. Respect man.

Del Fuegos were a great band too.

  • Glad you liked the clip and I agree with you that it still sounds great. Like so many other bands they suffered for being too far ahead of their time. I get the feeling that Flying Color were more interested in making good music than making the charts.

  • Hi, Richard Chase here, writer of "It Doesn't Matter". Thanks for the kind thoughts, I really appreciate it. I wrote it about my wife, when I first met her. Her ex-boyfriend was a real punk and spreading lies etc.

  • Fully agree! I was fortunate enough to see these guys often in Montana. I wondered then, and still wonder today, why this band did not burst. They were a very tight band with such a unique, original, and melodic sound. AND they wrote all their own stuff!

    Why Toto? Why!

  • Hey! I own that blue left-handed bass! Bought it from Hector in the late 80s. Fun to see it here.

  • Powerpop always sounds good. It's like honey to my ears. In the 80's, there were so many of these little Indie bands that made better records than most of what passes for Rock these days.

  • @pernicketty Thanks mate. I do not have the album but hopefully in the near future. It seems to be rare...I haven´t had heard this music for ages. It still sounds amazingly good and timeless, well made stuff with elaborate melodies.

  • Love this band.. thanks for posting!
