@andrommeeda You raise some interesting points. Yes, humans are instinctive animals, too; and is there that much difference between human and animal maternal instincts? From an evolutionary point of view, perhaps not very much at all. So "animal" maternal instincts are just as much a form of "compassion", I suppose", as are human ones.

@Sqid101 i think that is true in part, it could be misdirected maternal instinct. whether or not the elephant mistakes the buffalo as a young elephant its maternal instincts can still come into play. There are cases of interspecies maternal instincts in wild animals. kicking the sand and flapping the ears was an attempt to get the buffalo up and moving. Humans are instinctive animals too. What the heck, I will call it compassion too at the risk of anthropomorphising it.

Kruger National Park as WE all know is famous as a whole.
One place in kruger is Djuma Game reserve.
Djuma is home to the Oldest waterhole cam and home to the only live safari broadcasted over the web (WildEarth.tv and Ustream.com) with WildEarth.tv being its main host.
This is where WE need your help.
Due to lack of AD funding Safari TV has had to shut down their safari service.
Djuma has stepped in to Save it.

buffalo shud have do-dood in his mouth...

@shenze11 Uh no they are not , they are just as dangerous as lions , they are just portrayed as nice and almost cuddly. Elephants kill up 50 people every year.
-
The next time I kick dirt on someone who's lying down and then when they get angry I'll just tell them that I was being compassionate.
-
it is amazing to see a single lion killing a fully grown buffalo like this. wow...
-
I am still waiting for the extraordinary event to happen
That's not compassion...That's the elephant saying "Suck it up..rub some dirt in it...walk it off."

@Parody111 obviously you have not seen the horns on the water buffalo. that curl back wards then back towards the head. natural built in protection method the lioness probably is smart and doesnt want a horn through her neck.
