One of my favorites :)

This is a variant of an English traditional, Riddles Wisely Expounded [Child ballad #1] The English And Scottish Popular Ballads (1882-1898) printed in Gilbert's Christmas Carols in 1893. Also a variant of a 19th century British broadside ballad, A Noble Riddle Wisely Expounded: or, The Maids Answer To The Knights Three Questions, published by F. Coles, T. Vere, J. Wright, and J. Clarke (all of London) sometime between 1674 and 1679, and archived at the Bodleian Library Broadside Ballads. Thanks
