  • Breathtaking performance of exquisite vocal traceries, meticulous detail, and supreme musical sensitivity! The languid tempo affords the listener ample opportunity to appreciate the stunning beauty and interpretive brilliance in Boronat's unique singing style and not one "scoup" can be heard! Great photos but one question about the first image.... how did she breathe in that dress??? Thanks Doug...marvelous posting!
  • Hi Kievest: LoL! Pretty sure the first image was airbrushed, as many portraits were (have another look at the Florence Hinkle posting). In any event, with or without this camouflage, a great artist. Thank you! Doug --

  • Quite marvelous...!!!

  • It is a sad song after all.

  • As usual, supreme lyric charm from this most expressive of singers. There is a double-turn at one point that is the essence of loveliness. Beautiful.

  • Excellent performance, thank you, Doug! Slow tempo is usual for all singers of that age. I have this record on 78rpm. (white label St.Petersbourg G&T *test pressing*) and also 12 others 78rpm. Boronat (9 G&T made in 1904. and 4 others - made in 1908). Doug, why you not posted her 1908 *Martha* record (with orch)? I know about it but I not heard second version (with orch).

  • Wonderful...a German composer,an Irish melody, sung

by an Italian..from words by Thomas Moore !!

I prefer Doug's version to mine of Joan Hammond and

the delightfully slowness so controlled as indeed the

Irish would insist, times in 1850,s in Ireland were hard.

    Mr Curzon..another success. Cheers.
