21. Street Angels Scarborough

Street Angels are volunteers out on the street late on a weekend night to be there for people when they're needed. Streets Angels are a visible presence on the streets helping to improve the safety of those who are using Scarborough's bars, restaurants, theatres and public transport.

Street Angels are seeing reductions in street crime including violent crime and anti social behaviour and an increase in effective use of emergency services.

Another important effect is people feeling safer when out at night.

This is a church led initiative, but the volunteers are from all backgrounds not just those who go to church, they just share the aim of making Scarborough a better and safer place to be.

If you are from the Scarborough area (some of the volunteers travel in from quite a distance) and would like to be part of this enthusiastic band then get in touch and I'll send you more details. The training is free and comprehensive taking place over 12 evenings.

Street Angels Scarborough is enabled by Churches Together in Scarborough, the North Yorkshire Police, Scarborough Borough Council and the Safer Communities Partnership (North Yorkshire Moors and Coast).
