A meditation on part of the theme of Eric Coates' 'By the Sleepy Lagoon'. 'Lacuna' is the Latin source of the word 'lagoon'.

  • Absolutely beautiful, Philip. one of your better works, and I've just listend to some of he others (all great). Great sensitivity and those floating whole-tones and harmonies!

  • @jaymusic143 That's much appreciated!

  • I don't know what said Rubinstein about the pedal but this piece is a meditation.

  • Thank you - it was certainly intended as one!

  • This is truly beautiful, Phillip! Thank you!

  • That's very kind!

  • You are quite right - it was indeed Rubinstein.

  • I think it was Rubinstein, Chopin seems far too grumpy for such a quote! :P

  • Thank you very much. The pedal is the 'soul of the piano' (was it Chopin who said that?).

  • Yes! Finally a composition for the pedal! I get frustrated with teachers saying that the pedal must be used only when you 'need' to. I adore the pedal.

    Really lovely piece. =)
