Seems like Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikaku has a touch of Disgaea-style humor too. This trailer shows last battles in the style of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy where the hero dies.
Yep, this is the PSP game Nippon Ichi was teasing with
the hero donning a drill hat and Prinny parts. Since Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikaku is a Nippon Ichi title its designed with unlimited leveling up in mind. This game generates random dungeons. Players can collect head, leg, expansion, right arm, and left arm gear to customize their hero inside.
but Unlike the bulk of Nippon Ichis games this PSP title is not a strategy RPG. Absolute Hero Modding Project is a dungeon crawler with a similar art style and an emphasis on random levels. Since Nippon Ichi is hoping this game will be their next big series were pretty much guaranteed to see Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikaku overseas.
Theres a deluge of original Nippon Ichi games coming in early 2010. Last Rebellion, Classic Dungeon, and Absolute Hero Modding Project, a dungeon RPG with a customizable hero, will be out in Japan before spring. Dengeki squeaked out Absolute Hero Modding Projects release date which is March 11, 2010.
The games hero can equip different parts like Bat Wings that to dodge mines and a hookshot-like Magic Hand. Each part changes your heros appearance. You can even make him look like a Prinny!
Aside from Prinny parts and a Prism Ranger base in town, Absolute Hero Modding Project isnt related to Disgaea. Although, the art style and random dungeons give the game a Disgaea feel.
Nippon Ichi is developing Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikaku (Absolute Hero Modding Project), a dungeon crawler with a brand new cast of characters and a customizable hero. Players can swap parts to turn the hero into a tank, a Prinny, or Laharl.
Pre-orderers in Japan receive a card that grants access to a special mission, titled Record of Netherworld War Disgaea. Clear this mission to earn Laharl, Etna, and Flonne parts. The Disgaea items can also be obtained by playing the game regularly, but outside of this mission these parts are rare items.
Absolute Hero Modding Project is scheduled for release on March 11. NIS America has yet to announce this game, but I wouldnt be surprised to see Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikaku on their 2010 release schedule.
Disgaea cameos in a Nippon Ichi game? Expected. A partnership with light novel mag Dengeki Bunko to borrow Boogiepop from Boogiepop Phantom for a PSP dungeon RPG? Didnt see that coming!
And thats what Nippon Ichi pulled off for Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikaku. Their upcoming dungeon crawler includes various Dengeki Bunko character costumes. While the partnership isnt as big as throwing Hatsune Miku in this game, Nippon Ichi is trying to broaden the audience for this new series. Actually, Nippon Ichi worked with Hatune Miku. She (it?) sang songs for Tori no Hoshi: Aerial Planet, a Japan-only gliding game for the PS2.
Heres a summary of the Dengeki Bunko cameos in Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikaku:
Shana Shakugan no Shana
Taiga Aisaka Toradora!
Index Toaru Majutsu no Index
Horo Spice and Wolf
Boogiepop Boogiepop Phantom
Yoko Inukami!
Dokuro-chan Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-Chan
I got Game over 3 times before getting the game? O_O;
